GPA Launches Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign in Collaboration with the Committee for Safe Motherhood

The #COVID19 pandemic is far from over, with cases on the rise in both Mexico and Guatemala. Less than 22% of the population in Mexico is fully vaccinated, and that percentage drops to 2.3% for Guatemala. Covid-19 also continues to be the leading cause of maternal mortality in Mexico. GPA, along with a number of other civil society organizations that form part of the Committee for Safe Motherhood of Chiapas, has launched a vaccination campaign in several Mayan languages with the phrase, "For me, For My Community, I'm Getting Vaccinated," to reach vulnerable rural and urban populations. The campaign includes videos, posters and radio messages. GPA is also traveling from community to community to give talks to people about prevention of the virus, and the importance of getting vaccinated.
