GPA Awards Community Grant to Mayan Women's Organization in Guaquitepec, Mexico

GPA is happy to announce we are awarding a Community Grant to the impressive organization Mujeres Tseltales para la Autogestión Comunitaria (Tseltal Women for Community Empowerment) in Guaquitepec, Chiapas, to provide information on family planning to 140 women, in addition to providing comprehensive prenatal and follow up care to pregnant women in communities of Chilón and San Juan Cancuc. Mujeres Tseltales was formed by Mayan women who run the Casa de la Mujer Indígena (Center for Indigenous Women), and who work to empower indigenous women and provide quality healthcare, as well as to reduce the high levels of gender-based violence women and girls experience.
